Pride Pile on More Runs

Megan Bush at the plate, right before she ripped a single.
In a game where there were plenty of highlights at the plate and some solid pitching, it wasn't until the 7th inning when we got the best highlight of all. Florida Pride utility player Francesca Enea hit a ball that would have left the stadium had the Green Monster been standing behind Lisa Modglin in center field. Please believe me when I say that Francesca hit this ball every bit of 325 feet. As soon as the ball hit at the base of the mens fence in center I searched for a feet sign anywhere but none were to be found in center field. I was left to assume that the center field fence is longer than the 300 foot foul lines. It was Francesca's second dinger of the season, and the furthest softball I've ever seen hit!
Sarah Pauly pitched a great game, going the distance and striking out 8 and giving up only 6 hits. Pauly got the biggest offensive support from Kelly Kretschman who went 3 for 3 with a grand slam. Jessica Mendoza went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Caitlin Lowe went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, moving her to 6 for 6 with 5 runs and an RBI in the series!
The Racers struggled at the plate for the second day in a row but had a great night from Sharonda McDonald who went 2 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base. The Racers also got some really hard hit base hits from Schlopy, Bush, Hesson and Paculba. One very bright spot for the Racers was Kelly Montalvo on the hot corner! She snagged a couple sharply hit balls to take away hits, turned a double play, and tracked down a tough pop up at the plate.
The Racers looks to get back in the series tomorrow as they take on the Pride again at 7:05 PM. In the series the Racers have been out scored 22-0 and out hit 30-8.
Two of the best softball players in history, Jessica Mendoza and Caitlin Lowe
