HALL of FAME HUDDLE
Pride Continue Domination of Racers
The Pride bats stayed hot and the pitching stayed solid Saturday night, a bad equation for the hometown Akron Racers. Brittany Mack went the distance on the hill giving up 1 run, 5 hits, 7 k's and 4 free passes. So far in the series the Pride pitching has been a constant, getting 3 straight complete games from Osterman, Pauly and Mack. Sam Marder broke up Mack's no-hit bid with two outs in the 4th. Lisa Modglin ended the Racer's scoreless series in the 7th, when she drove in Taylor Schlopy, who doubled to lead of the inning.
The Pride took turns at the plate tonight, Jessica Mendoza drove in the first 3 runs of the game, including a 2-run homer. Charlotte Morgan led off the 4th with a solo homer and Lauren Lappin and Jamee Juarez went back-to-back in the 7th. Mendoza finished 1 for 2, with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Lappin had a big game going 2 for 3 with 2 runs and a run batted in. Rookie Kristyn Sandberg continues to have a great season going 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI's. The Racers finally kept Caitlin Lowe in check, forcing her to go hitless in 3 at-bats, but not after she reached on a walk, error, and another walk to extend her on-base streak to 11.
The Racers were led by Modglin who's only hit drove in the only run of the game for the Racers and Taylor Schlopy who went 1 for 2 and scored the only run. So far in the series The Racers have been outscored 33-1 and outhit 41-13. the Racer's will look to turn things around tomorrow and avoid the sweep before the Pride leave town. The game is at 2:05 at Firestone Stadium.
I continue to see the signs of integrity of the NPF every time I visit the park. There's not room for one more person to line the first base line to get an autograph before the 6th inning even starts. I'm seeing men, woman, boys and girls visiting the park and enjoying it! Rookie Hillary Bach get's it, I watched her display the essence of what makes the NPF so special and appealing. While warming up in the pen she made a new friend, Hunter, who I'd assume was 3 years old and thought Hillary was the coolest thing ever. Another young fan had her night made when Hillary tossed her the bullpen ball on her way out to the mound, all in a days visit to a NPF ballpark!
