Racers Sweep Doubleheader from 49-0 Brakettes

Brianna Hesson rounding 3rd after her game winning homer!
The Brakettes came into Tuesdays doubleheader looking to stay perfect before they went to Vegas for nationals. The Racers were looking to prove their selves and keep the momentum from Sundays $-2 extra inning win over the pride going. The Brakettes entered Firestone Stadium on a 49 game win streak and left on a 2 game losing streak.
Nicole Trimboli stayed hot going 2 for 3 and Aja Paculba went 1 for 2 with a run, RBI, and a walk. The Racers also got much needed RBI's from Schlopy and Herron. The Racers kind of cruised to the win with little resistance until the 7th inning when the Brakettes put a couple runners on  and scored a run. The rally was quickly extinguished by Alicia Herron who made one of her several stellar plays at short to end the game. Trimboli also made some outstanding plays at first, Nicole may be the hottest player right now on the team.
Kristina Thorson pitched 3 scoreless innings to start the action giving up only 2 hits and striking out a pair. The newest Racers pitcher, Erin Arevalo, pitched the last 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits.

It was unfortunate that the majority of the fans didn't stay for the second game because it was a classic! Hillary Bach pitched 4 scoreless innings and the Racers held the lead 3-0 on a Trimboli RBI and a Bri Hesson 2-run homer. The Brakettes 1st baseman, Steph Call, had a certain aura about her and everytime she got to the plate she was pounding the ball, just couldn't ever keep it fair! However; when she came to the plate in the 7th with 2 on, 2 outs, everyone held their breathe. With 2 strikes on her, she took the air out of the stadium, hitting a 3 run shot to center to tie the game! Hillary Bach came back into the game to finish the inning as we went to extras. Bri Hesson saved the day in the 8th with her second homer of the night, with Trimboli on 2nd. The fans that were there exploded, the fans that weren't there missed a great game!
Hesson was clearly the player of the game with 2 homers and 4 RBI's, Nicole Trimboli continued to click at the plate going 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. On the mound Hillary Bach pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up 6 hits and striking out 4. Jen Mineau went 2.2 giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 3.
The Racers continue action Thursday night against the Carolina Diamonds at 7:05 PM, the series continues through Sunday.
