Obviously everyone on the Charge and in Canton would prefer to end the year on a 5 game winning streak, but the Erie BayHawks had other plans. if there's a silver lining to snapping a 4-game win streak it is that there wasn't any glaring problems. It looks like the Charge are coming together well as a team, tonight just wasn't their night. In an otherwise well played game, the Charge gave one of their worst shooting performances of the season, missing both FT% and FG% lows by only 3% and shooting just 4-18 from the arc. Charge Head Coach Alex Jensen was quick to point out after the game the shooting wasn't the reason for the loss, "missed shots are never the reason you lose a game." The Charge were undersized against 7 foot Chris Daniels and 6'10" Kyle Goldcamp, but still managed to set season highs in offensive rebounds(19) and total rebounds(48). Coach Jensen pointed out a few things he felt led to the loss. "We let our offense dictate our defense, as opposed to defense dictating offense," Jensen says, "we played hard but we didn't lock in mentally and gambled some on defense, which isn't what we teach in practice."
The Charge were led today by newcomer Frank Hassell who had 10 points and 11 rebounds, 9 of which were on the offensive end, and 2 blocks. Keith McLeod paced the team with 18 points. Antoine Agudio had a well rounded game with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Biggs, who was in foul trouble most of the game, finished with 12 and 4. Dante Milligan narrowly missed another double-double while recording 11 and 9, with 2 blocks.
The Charge look to bounce back on the road tomorrow and start the new year off right in Ft. Wayne. They will be back home on Jan 6th before returning back to Ft. Wayne to finish up three in a row against the Mad Ants on the 7th.
