DAY 3
Fairland 60
Clinton-Massie 47
Player of the Game:
Chandler Fulks - 20 pts, 3 asts
(F) Terra Stapleton - 13 pts, 11 rebs
(F) Kayla Swiger - 9 pts
(F) Taylor Perry - 7 pts, 4 asts
(C-M) Kasey Uetrecht - 14 pts, 6 rebs, 6 asts
(C-M) Mary Moyer - 10 pts, 5 rebs
(C-M) Allyson Monnin - 9 rebs
(C-M) Brianna Mochado - 8 pts
Early on Clinton-Massie did a great job suffocating Fairland post stud Terra Stapleton, who will be attending Minnesota in 2014. As the game wore on the middle moved from a hindrance to an asset. Stapleton, who is 6'4" and built very solidly, ended up with 13 and 11. The Fairland inside presence was aided by an ACL tear that sidelined Clinton-Massie's star Sydney Brackemyre, who is considering Louisville and Michigan as a JR. Given all that C-M still worked hard inside and rebounded evenly with Fairland. Proctorville got a huge game from junior guard Chandler Fulks who finished with 20. Both teams shot pretty well from the floor, there were stretches where both teams traded jump shots. Fairland got seven 3's combined from Fulks and Kayla Swiger. 7 for 18 is quite the improvement for a team that's averaging 21% from behind the line. Given the combination of inside presence and guard play Fairland should be looking at a long playoff run that could eventually land them in Columbus.

Winton Woods 55
Toledo Rogers 48
Player of the Game:
Imani Partlow - 19 pts, 15 rebs
(WW) Tyra James - 17 pts
(WW) Dominque Harper - 8 pts
(TR) Akienreh Johnson - 15 pts
(TR) Marquelle Williams - 10 pts, 8 rebs
(TR) Cha'Ron Sweeney - 10 pts, 4 stls
(TR) Toriana Easely - 7 pts, 7 rebs
Coming in to the game and on paper this one looked like a mismatch in the favor of Rogers. In reality Winton Woods took on the intensity and focus of their coach Calvin Johnson. Rogers is loaded with talent from top to bottom and nationally rated players at every position. The prestige did Rogers no good when it came to defending Imani Partlow and Tyra James in the paint, the two combined for 36 points along with Imani's 15 boards. With the game close with 2 minutes left Toledo Rogers' star PG, who's attending Eastern Michigan next season came up empty on 3 forced jump shots and threw a ball into the baseline row of college coaches.
What most fans, coaches, and recruiters are going to take away from this game is the play of Rogers 6' shooting guard Akienreh Johnson. She put the best freshman showing on at the classic since 2011 when Kelsey Mitchell of Cincinnati Princeton had the Classic crowd on their feet! Scouts and recruiters alike were amazed at her build, poise and awareness. Johnson displayed a full arsenal of skills on both ends of the floor. On defense she has the size and speed to guard bigger or smaller, and you can just see it in her eyes she has what it takes to play great defense. Offensively she was 2 for 5 from the arc with a quick release foul line extended trey, a pull up midrange jumper and a floater over the solid Winton Woods posts. She is currently ranked the 7th SG in the country for 2016 but when it's all said and done by 2015 she will he a hot commodity for all D1 powerhouses.
In the scheme of things Rogers will be pushing for a state appearance and they will most likely be looking at a regional matchup with Wadsworth to get there.

Regis Jesuit (CO) 69
Canton McKinley 40
Player of the Game:
Justine Hall - 23 pts, 6 rebs, 3 stls
(RJ) Diani Akigbogum - 9 pts, 8 rebs
(RJ) Kelsi Lidge - 5 pts, 7 rebs, 3 asts
(RJ) Jessica Lewis - 6 pts, 4 asts
(RJ) Jordan Molyneaux - 13 pts
(McK) RonYell Hogan - 9 pts
(McK) Marquia Turner - 8 pts
Regis Jesuit looked like they had no intention on going back to Colorado without a win. After a hard-fought loss on Saturday to Fairmont, they dominated McKinley from start to finish. a 17 run to start the game put the Pups behind the 8 ball and Regis didn't let up. McKinley generally loves to put intense pressure on the opponent but Regis flipped the script on the Bulldogs. Regis' guards were bigger and just as fast, making it virtually impossible to trap. If they didn't pass over it they dribbled through or around it. Defensively they put pressure on McKinley that they rarely see, forcing them into 27 turnovers resulting in 27 points.

Solon 49
Pickerington North 48
Player of the Game:
Kristen Confroy - 20 pts, 5 reb, 3 stls
(S) Jordan Bekelja - 8 pts
(S) Alexis Gray - 7 pts, 7 rebs
(S) Martha Thompson - 7 pts, 3 asts
(PN) Emily Thomas - 16 pts, 5 rebs
(PN) - Jordan Toohey - 9 pts
(PN) Christy Macioce - 8 pts
(PN) Brittany Johnson - 8 pts, 5 rebs
(PN) Morgan Bassett-Smith - 5 pts, 6 rebs
Solon wanted to leave an impression at the Classic this weekend, and they did just that. The win over Pickerington North kind of lets people know that Solon is relevant. It was particularly important to get this win directly after Twinsburg stunned Reynoldsburg. Any chance Solon has at getting to state has to pass through Twinsburg in the Canton regional. Solon believes, and showed people in this win that they have enough talent to make something happen. Kristen Confroy came up huge with 20 points and what turned out to be the game winning free throws while Thompson, Bekelja, and Gray combined for 22. The Comets elected to go to Confroy on the last possession, who got a high ball screen. Controversy ensued when North was called for a foul trying to get through the screen. It was such a controversial call because Confroy was clearly by the screen and had a decently open lane, the foul that was called had no bearing on the play, but had everything to do with the outcome of the game. Generally its not a call that gets called in that point of the game in a shooting situation. However the Comets remained poised and Confroy knocked down the foul shots for the win. Great win for Solon and they should easily enter the Canton region with some confidence and something to prove!
