Series Recap vs. USSSA Pride

Game 1
     With Sharonda McDonald back in the lineup she had 1 of only 3 hits given up by Pride pitcher Cat Osterman. Lisa Modglin and Brianna Hesson had the others, with Bri scoring Sharonda in the 3rd inning for the only run for the Racers. The Pride were led by Ashley Charters who went 2 for 3 with 5 RBI's. Caitlin Lowe, Jess Mendoza and Natasha Watley all contributed a pair of hits.
     On the mound the loss was handed to Erin Arevalo who gave up 8 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks and struckout none in 3.2 innings. Hillary Bach gave 2.1 innings of relief out of the bullpen giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 2 and striking out 2. For the Pride, Cat Osterman was dominant as usual, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits, walking 6 and striking out 12.

Game 2
     On Friday night the Racers got a pretty good pitching performance from Lisa Norris but couldn't get much plate support. Lisa went 6 innings and held the high powered Pride offense to only 4 runs on 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 3. The Racers could only put together 5 hits and one run, on Sam Marder's 7th inning home run. Sharonda McDonald had a pair of hits, her 3 in 2 games after sitting out the whole series last weekend against the Diamonds. Taylor Schlopy and Lisa Modglin also got a hit.
     The Pride were led by Kelly Kretschman who drove in a pair of runs. And Caitlin Lowe, who stole a couple bases and had a pair of base hits, raising her season average to .420. On the mound Sarah Pauly got the win after allowing only 1 run on 5 hits, only walking 1 and striking out 7.

Game 3
     On Saturday the bats started coming alive, a little, but not nearly as much as was needed. They got a pair of hits from Sam Marder and Kelley Montalvo, and RBI's from Nicole Trimboli and Nicole Pauly. On the mound Kristina Thorson went 4.2 giving up all 6 of the runs on 8 hits, striking out 4 and getting the loss. Erin Arevalo came in for 1.1 innings of hitless relief, striking out 3.
The Pride were led by Megan Willis, who once again hit a homer against the Racers, this time a 2-run shot. The Pride also got another 2 hits from Caitlin Lowe, which is becoming an everyday thing. Jess Mendoza, Charlotte Morgan and Andrea Duran added RBI's for the Pride. Danielle Lawrie went all 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 4 and walking no one.

Game 4
     For the second Pride series in a row, the Racers avoided a sweep in the 4th game, this time the second game of a Saturday doubleheader. The pitching matchup was rookie vs. rookie, Hillary Bach vs. Brittany Mack. Hillary Bach and the Racers came out on top! Hillary went the distance, giving up only only one run on 7 hits, walking none and striking out five. Mack gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. She was relieved by Osterman, who gave up a hit and a run in 1.2.
     At the plate the Racers were led by Sam Marder, who hit her second homer of the series. Marder had 3 hits and 2 RBI's. The Racers also got hits from Bri Hesson, Nicole Trimboli and Aja Paculba. The Pride got 2 hits apiece from Natasha Watley and Jenn Salling, and an RBI from Ashley Charters.

The series leaves the Pride in 1st place at 22-12 with a series in North Carolina with the Diamonds coming up, and the Racers in last at 14-22 with a home series against the Bandits starting on Thursday.
