In Their Words

USSSA Pride Catcher Megan Willis on...
...how the Pride are feeling heading into the championships.
"I don't think we could be in a better position, we started off slow and right now we're on a high. That's what you wanna do, you dont wanna start at a high and get in a lull, you wanna keep getting better and better."

...her continued success at Firestone Stadium.
"I don't know, maybe because its the most stable stadium, I've played her in all my seasons. I really don't know, that's all I can really say about that. Everything else is a new stadium, sometimes we're on a baseball field. I like the crowd here, I like the stadium, its good."

USSSA Pride Pitcher Danielle Lawrie on...
...how the Pride are feeling heading into championships.
"I think great, I don't know each individually but just by how you play and just the confidence is huge. That's really important and we're obviously showing that we have it so that's a good thing."

...if the team is taking a different approach this year in the finals.
"No. I mean stuff happens. That's part of the game, not any one person or team is supposed to win. It's different players who step up in big situations so I think we need to just keep a clear mind. You can't really think about last season going into the Championship Series, so its a fresh start."

Akron Racer Right Fielder Sharonda McDonald on...
...how she's feeling at the plate.
"I feel really good, I feel really confident. I have a really good plan at the plate and I execute and it feels good."

...how shes feeling after her quad injury?
"I don't think I'm exactly where i want to be at 100%, but I think I'm doing well enough to be able to produce so I'm happy about that."

...where the teams at going into championships.
"I think we have really good energy and I think our confidence is good. We're in a good place. We're kind of on a skid as far as losing some games, but we all know we have a good chance at it."

USSSA Pride Left Fielder Jessica Mendoza on...
...how shes feeling at the plate.
"I feel good, honestly hitting is a crazy thing! I mean, I was struggling last weekend and I come out tonight and have a good night. Tomorrow it could go back either way. I think that's the beauty of this game, you can never hang your hat on one night and be like 'OK I'm doing pretty good or I'm doing pretty bad', it's going to change every night. That's why we keep working."

...Pride's mentality heading into the championships.
"You know, I think we're playing our best softball right now, I think we're learning even from our wins. It was 8-0 tonight and we still look at ourselves and we think we can do a better job with this or that."
