RICH'S DRAFT ANALYSIS

First round is going to be the most interesting because we will be getting a talent we havent seen in Cleveland for several years no matter which route we go, especially if these trade rumors I'm hearing culminate. But first things first, the pick we do have -#6- I know I'm gonna get hammered for this but Patrick Peterson has to be our pick if he is available! Imagine Haden and Peterson at the corners and Eric Wright in the nickel, an above average corner in case of an injury in the 3rd cb spot...thats a luxury! We dont need Sheldon Brown's services anymore so hes expendable, maybe a middle round trade...and before you get on my man EW just check yourself before you wreck yourself, even though he had a down year last year over the last 2 seasons he at most times was our biggest playmaker on the field, offense or defense! The guy is back and focused, he is reliable. * Assuming Peterson isn't there I have to go for a WR, as risky as that is, Green and Jones are as good as its gonna get. I prefer Jones(6'3", 220, 4.34, 38.5 in vert) over Green(6'4", 210, 4.48, 34.5 in vert) purely because of the size and speed combo, he ran his 4.34 with a fracture in his foot and how many DB's in the league run a 4.34 and are that size? What he gives up with that inch in weight he more than makes up with a 4 in higher vert. Sure Green made more circus catches but can you fault Jones for having a QB who put it on the money all the time? The guys hands arent even a question. Besides it's a mute point because it seems the Bungles are set on picking Green at #4. If neither Jones or Peterson arent there than we are undoubtably looking at Fairley or Quinn. Now IF we get Peterson at #6 and make that rumored trade with the Vikings to move back up to snag Jones if he's there it would be the best draft in Browns history, yes better than '07! haha. I dont see us making that trade for next years first rounder unless Jones is there...now moving on...

ROUND 2 (#37) - This is where we can really get a great impact D-Lineman, and it has to be done. I'm looking at Marvin Austin(6'2" 309, 38 reps) to be a starter day one and make the line so much better. A couple other really good picks might could be Martez Wilson(6'2", 250, 4.42) who brings un-Godly size and speed to the MLB position. Brooks Reed(6'3", 263) is a guy that the draft guru's are very high on and deem the second best pass rusher behind only Von Miller, and compare to Clay Matthews in style. Given that theres no worthy d-line available he couldbe the man at 37. Also keep in mind this might be a good place to pick a QB for some bargaining power and multiple picks in a trade or to trade down with a team wanting to pick a QB who is slipping.

ROUND 3 (#70) - This pick isnt so clear as to whats gonna be available but if we hadn't taken a WR yet Edmund Gates(6'0", 192, 4.31) would be a no-brainer in my mind. A small school speedster with decent size and huge play making potential, he's the protypical middle round WR jackpot. May be a good pick even if we have Jones for some depth and playmaking ability in our thin WR core. John Moffitt(6'4", 319) would look like a great selection here at guard, we need a guard to play right now not to mention replace Steinbach soon. Moffitt would be a perfect guy to trade back up and pick also if he is still available after our pick in the 3rd. If we dont pick Peterson than Curtis Brown(6'0", 185, 4.51) would be a nice solid pick as well. A reach at this spot would be TE Lance Kendricks because it's not a glaring need but the guy can play and a good young TE to replace all our old ones in a few years would be nice.

ROUND 4 (#102) - If Casey Matthews is available here you have to take him just off principle and the gene pool. However a safer pick might be DE from Nebraska Pierre Allen, big nasty dude with great speed. Again since I'm so worried about WR's Tandon Doss and Greg Salas would be good solid picks this late in the draft. I honestly don't know much about them but the draft guru's love them both.

ROUND 5 (#137) - The guy i'm keeping my eye on here is Florida SS Ahmed Black, I think he's worth trading up to get earlier if we need to, he'd be a great fit for the future behind Haden and he's just a playmaker. Another guy I am really focused on in the spot, particularly if we haven't done much at WR is Austin Pettis(6'3", 209), I personally really like this guy, he's gonna be a stud! Some other great options if available at OT would be DeMarcus Love(6'4", 315) and Joseph Barksdale(6'5", 325). Roy Helu at RB or DeMarcus Van Dyke, who at 6'1" runs a 4.25 40, has the tools to be great should be available at 137. Any of these guy with the exception of Black could easily be available and a steal at pick 170 for us.

ROUND 6 (#170) - If available still Pettis and Van Dyke are two guys I'd concider trading up for. If not Brandon Bair from Oregan would be a nice pickup so late in the draft for D-Line help. also coming into the picture is a big corner Richard Sherman(6'3", 195, 38 inch vert) the guys not gonna get jumped over in the red zone or be punked by big WR's. He has played for Harbaugh at Stanford so we know the guy is gutsy and physical, he would be a great pick int he 6th round. Another guy we could start giving a look at in the 6th is Cecil Shorts, he is a local from Mount and easily could be a great selection at 170.

ROUND 7 (#248) - Browns fans want a scatback to compliment Hillis...well i got your scatback, Noel Devine! we all know who he is and he will likely be available for our last pick, theres no better option or a better pick to end the draft. The following is a list of guys who would be great rookie free agents to persue...

John Clay, big bruising back from Wisconsin
Lazarius Levingston, DE, LSU
Devon Torrance, CB, OSU
Josh Davis, OT, Georgia
DeAndre Brown, 6'6" 233, WR, Southern Miss
