20 Best 90's Basketball Shoes

I thought it would be fun to do an article on the shoes of the 90's. The 90's was the best decade for shoes without a doubt, they just dont make shoes like they used to! I excluded all Jordans from my list because they obviously own the market. I wanted to bring back the shoes we all loved and maybe forgot about...



#20) Nike Air Way Up - Sported by Scottie Pippen primarily but if you're a Cavs fan you think these are the Terrell Brandons...pretty widely worn shoe though...

#19) Nike Air DVST8 - Charles Barkley got credit for these kicks but these shoes started a trend, they are perhaps the first 'team shoe' that you could get in any color possible and whole teams were wearing these shoes, starting the team shoe theme that is often seen today.

#18) Nike Air Uptempo - One of many Scottie Pippen shoes over the years, one of the first shoes with an air bubble all the way around the shoe...

#17) Reebok Blast - At one point Nick Van Exel had a cult following, everyone knows at least one person who shaved lines in their eyebrows after Nick the Quick did it! These shoes illustrated his crazy style with a color scheme like none other of its time or since...the 'blast' on one side was white while the background was black, and on the opposite side the 'blast' was black with a white trim. Great shoe...

#16) Nike Air Flight 1 - These were first of many awesome shoes from Penny Hardaway, however what might set these shoes apart is that MJ wore them upon his return over his own shoes...Penny shoes got so much better after these ones but Michael blew these ones up!

#15) Reebok Shaqnosis - These shoes were just so crazy they were awesome and made my list, they looked so much better on Shaq's size 22 but they in my mind are still nice enough to make the cut.

#14) Nike Air Turbulence - Little man Damon Stoudamire wore these kicks, I think they are very stylish and they were maybe the only expensive pair of shoes my parents got me when I was a kid so they are definitely on my list!

#13) Nike Air Zoom Flight 95 - Jason Kidd wore these with pride while impressing his fans. One of the first shoes to have more than just a pattern or words and include abstract objects or shapes on the shoe.

#12) Nike Air Pippen - This Pippen shoe was very classy, it was definitely top dollar but it had everything you liked in a shoe. Kept the total air bubble alive with this one.

#11) Reebok Question - The first of a long line of Allen Iverson shoes, and the nicest of the 90's. One of the first Reeboks that included the combs.

#10) Fila Grant Hill II - Starting out the top 10 is the best of the Grant Hill line, the shoe is smooth and sleek like Grant himself, Fila had a short period of basketball shoes but they knocked one of of the park with these ones...

#9) Reebok Kamikaze II - Shawn Kemp had several nice shoes but this has to be the best one. It was one of several Reeboks that were based purely off of black/white color scheme with a simple off-the-wall design. Everyone wanted to be Shawn Kemp, so everyone had his shoes.

#8) Nike Air Max CB - This Charles Barkley shoe is just straight out badass, nothing else needs to be said...

#7) Nike Air Penny - I really love these Pennys and own a pair to this day but due to the quality of shoes in the 90's I couldn't get these any higher than 7, these are a classic and always will be!

#6) Nike Air More Tempo - No one will ever forget these shoes! The shoes that say AIR on the side will live forever! One of the most widely known shoe of all time made popular by Scottie Pippen.

#5) Nike Air Zoom Flight - This Jason Kidd shoe starts out the top 5. It was a very nice shoe, and everyone likes shiny things. This shoe definitely earned a top 5 pick.

#4) Nike Charles Barkley Retro - This was an amazing shoe! Perhaps made more popular by Deion Sanders on the football field than even Charles made it on the court. Regardless, it will go down as one of the sexiest shoes ever!

#3) Nike Air Penny II - One of two shoes Penny has in my top 3, this shoe was just sexy. A huge improvement from his first shoe, this shoe will also be a longtime classic!

#2) Nike Air Zoom Flight 96 - Of all of the great Penny Hardaway shoes I give this one the edge. It was one of the first in the Zoom variety and possibly the most comfortable shoe that was ever on my foot. He had some help promoting this shoe like #4 on the list because it was also donned by Barry Sanders on the football field...

#1) Nike Air Adjust - This was a no-brainer for #1, this shoe had something no shoe has ever had...removeable straps! If you had these shoes you also had several different colored straps, you could wear any different color everyday, it was a movement and we havent seen anything like it since. Gary Payton tried with The Glove but it never got off the ground like the Adjust...
